Hair Story – Bouclème

Hair Story – Bouclème

This post is a bit of a #throwback #flashback, in other words it should’ve been posted a lOng time ago any hoo… This summer a hair company called Bouclème  approached me about being part of a campaign promoting a new product they were launching later in the year. So who are Boucleme? (Boo – Clem) Let me give you a little background.

Bouclème is a hair brand that specialises in curly hair. It was created out of the desire of having an all natural ingredients, that doesn’t weigh the hair down, and its free from sulphate and silicone. The Boucleme brand cares passionately about curly hair and the planet we inhabit. They believe in sustainability and farmers being paid fairly. They use fair-trade ingredients wherever possible. The ingredients are biodegradable making Boucleme safe for the environment and also safe for the body. All their packaging are also recyclable.

If you know much about afro hair you would know that it needs moisture, and due to the cold weather and day to day styling its especially difficult to keep it hydrated. I discovered the Boucleme intensive moisture mask which retains moisture and I use this mask every 2 – 4 weeks. This is perfect for when you’ve just taken your hair out of braids and it needs some intensive treatment. This is my go to treatment, my 4c hair texture loves it.

My story so far...

Everyone has a hair story, here’s a little snippet of my hair journey into having my hair natural.

DIY – Pom poms Cardigan

DIY – Pom poms Cardigan

From as early as I can remember I have always fiddled about with my clothing Lol. I remember as a child trying to make my own shoes, turning my cardigan into a skirt and getting very frustrated and crying my eyes out when it wouldn’t work. (Sorry Mummy lol x)

Customising and DIY is something I love, I always have to personalise my clothing often because of my petite frame I would need to adjust the item to fit well. I believe DIY and customising is a skill that every fashionista should have. It makes dressing up so much fun and adds character to the outfit.

My current DIY tutorial is all about knitwear. Now I tend to get a little attached to my clothing and hardly ever throw any piece away. This is one of the reasons why I have never really gotten into ‘trends’ If I buy something it’s because I love it not because of its an ‘on-trend’ item. AnyhoO this is another post coming very soon…

My current favourite item of clothing is this gorgeous red cardigan featured in the photos. I’ve had this for about 2 years it’s a lovely fit, however, has quite a few holes in them. Now I should get rid of it but I think I can get a few wears out of it before throwing it out. Red is such a Christmasy colour and updating this cardigan with pom poms was just so fitting for the season. I teamed this look with a 1980’s tartan kilt, black opaque tights, and vintage Kurt Gieger heels.

My first DIY Vlog – Laced Up Espadrilles

If you’ve been following me for awhile you would know that I have a Bridal and Evening wear label, I’m a trained Fashion Designer, Teacher, turned Blogger and now vlogging. (these terms are so funny, I personally like to refer to myself as a ‘Creative’) In actual fact because of my designing and teaching background doing tutorials comes very easy. However watching myself afterward was a whole different story. Have you ever watched yourself in a video and thought ‘I didn’t know I sounded like that or why do I keep saying errrrrrrrm so many times? Or ‘what is that cushion doing on the floor’?

The key word in vlogging is preparation and being yourself.  With enough preparation the nerves disappear which then makes way for your true self to shine through. I almost didn’t post this video but I’m so glad I did, it has an expectedly been a bit of a therapy session and now I’m hooked. I can’t wait to film my next one teheheheheheee lol.
